Information for Parents

Program Participation

Your child is required to participate in all program activities and to stay in program housing. To ensure all participants' safety and focus on the Bridges program, most program activities will be closed to non-chaperones, but there may be one or two program events that parents will be invited to join.

Things to Do

Whether your child is coming from near or far, we know that many parents may want to travel with their children, and we would love to welcome you to Lawrence as well. While non-chaperones will not be able to participate in program events, we can provide suggested activities for parents to explore the vibrant Lawrence and KU communities.

Where to Stay

Lawrence has many hotels in town with a variety of amenities and offerings. Generally, we recommend booking at the Hampton Inn & Suites on 6th Street as we have worked with them before. However, we are happy to help you find a hotel that works best for you and your needs.

Your Arrival and Departure

Parents are welcome to be transported to Lawrence with their children by program staff. If you want to rent a car, you can do that at the Kansas City airport or in Lawrence. You are responsible for making those arrangements as well as for knowing, understanding and following all U.S, Kansas, and Missouri driving laws.
