English Proficiency Assessment

Why do we assess applicants' English?

The Bridges program is designed to be valuable to all participants, as long as they are able to use basic English. They should be able to understand and respond to basic questions and requests.

The Bridges English Assessment

The assessment is one short virtual meeting with a program staff member. The staff member will ask a few basic questions and for a few easy tasks to be completed, and applicants will be assessed based on their responses. The assessment should take no more than 15 minutes to complete.

We are not looking for a particularly assigned "level," but participants should have the ability to communicate in English at a basic level.

No.  This is not an official assessment.  It is only used to determine eligibility for this program and does not apply to other programs or college entry.

Of course!
